what is EIFS?
Although the terms ‘stucco’ and ‘EIFS’ are used by many people interchangeably, they are far from the same thing. EIFS is an acronym for Exterior Insulation and Finish System and it has been around for several decades as it is a less expensive than traditional hard coat stucco. The system, being fairly new considering building materials, is an improved exterior wall cladding system with enhanced water resistance and insulation capabilities. Commercially it has had widespread usage in north America and across the world with installations following strict specifications. Residential usage continues to increase but in the late 90’s installation of the system by unskilled contractors resulted in subpar performance and many water intrusion problems. This resulted in EIFS getting a “bad name” that it is continuously overcoming in certain residential markets. Hiring a highly skilled EIFS Contractor Fayetteville, AR will ensure that your project is installed correctly and that it will perform well for the life of your home or business.

IS EIFS SIDING?
EIFS is a non-load bearing building cladding system that provides exterior walls with an insulated, water-resistant, finished surface. The first uses of EIFS in America date back to 1960s but they initially resulted in building envelope failures due to water infiltration issues. Today’s exterior insulation finish systems are highly developed by reputable manufacturers like Dryvit and Sto and perform extremely well when installed correctly. These systems now incorporate a drainage plane and extra insulation to combat the early system shortcomings and can be utilized as an cost effective siding option with confidence.

- EIFS meet standards for Continuous Insulation (CI) and was the first system to do so.
- Energy-efficiency: In the 2012 Better Buildings Federal (US) Awards Program, an EIFS clad building helped reduce energy usage by nearly 45% over 12 months.
- Crack-resistant: Enhanced flexibility helps EIFS avoid cracking problems common to stucco, concrete and brick exteriors as it seems to absorb building movement.
- Moisture control: Research supported by the US Department of Energy states that EIFS offers better thermal and moisture control when compared to brick, stucco and fibre-cement siding.
- Low maintenance: EIFS buildings have superior resistance to chalking, fading, staining, soot, and mold. They can be easily cleaned, repaired and re-painted.
- Design flexibility: EIFS is available in virtually a limitless variety of colors and textures. It can also be easily used to create nearly any design and shape.

Our Installation Commitment
We will carefully assess your building and do the following to give you quality and value for your money:
- We will carefully install all attachments: Specially designed adhesives and fasteners will be used by our EIFS installers to fasten all components of the EIFS system. Where applicable, thermal breaks will be maintained to further reduce the transferring of energy.
- We will utilize an air and moisture barrier: Glass mat faced gypsum board, masonry, plywood, and OSB are adequate substrates but they must be covered with an air and moisture barrier. We really like the liquid applied air and moisture barriers on the market today because they give excellent adhesion to a variety of substrates and they can provide a uniform seal.
- We will utilize a reinforcing mesh to ensure quality: We will carefully install a reinforcing mesh at the base of the wall, attaching it to the substrate with cement based adhesive and fasteners. This mesh will hold the insulation board by folding over or “back wrapping” around the bottom edges of the board neatly.
- Fixing the EPS Insulation Board: Expanded Polystyrene insulation boards are available in a many thicknesses. An adhesive is applied to the EPS insulation and immediately applied to the wall, tamping it to adequately seal the adhesive to the substrate. All gaps are eliminated between each piece to ensure a good thermal consistency. All voids are to be filled if over 1/16".
- Insulation board leveling: A crucial step in creating a true and level wall is to knock down any high spots in the insulation with a rasp. Many times the substrate isn't even and causes the insulation to protrude or show high spots. Smoothing these out in this phase helps assure that your wall will look smooth, plumb and true.
- We will use the best finish materials: We consistently use products made from the top EIFS manufacturers on the business and we know that to stand behind our finihsed work we need high permformance products. You can trust us to use only the beast.
